Dinosaurs Discovered!

Join us for a Dinosaur Romp and Roaring good time!
We had a party today at our cave for our little dinosaurs:
Hendrickosaurus, Davis Rex, PteraBurke and Maegliodon
10 little friends joined us for a dinosaur dig (yes, we were brave/crazy enough to bring sand boxes into our house!), creative coloring on the floor, pizza, dino cupcakes and dinosaur nests. Our kids were super excited! We loved having one big party for everyone this year (instead of separate parties for each birthday).

Media Recommendations - March

Mike
Ghostland Observatory - delete.delete.i.eat.meat (CD)

We saw this electronica band on Austin City Limits and fell in love with their blatant uniqueness. Have an open mind and you'll enjoy them.

Amy
What is the What - by Dave Eggers (book)

The amazing story of a refugee from the Sudanese civil wars of the 1980's, his harrowing experiences in Africa, and his assimilation into US culture.

Kids
The Three Snow Bears - by Jan Brett (book)

By far their favorite book right now...we love the illustrations and the kids enjoy when daddy does the bear voices.

Spring Break

We love Spring Break...Grandma's Spring Break! We enjoyed having Amy's mom visit for a few days this week. We had a great day at the Memphis Zoo (Amy was so glad to have the extra help pushing strollers!). And, we were thrilled to introduce Grandma to Ethiopian food at Abyssinia. We had a wonderful time - thanks mom!

He Is Risen!

He is not here; he has risen... Matthew 28:6.
Today we celebrate the single most important moment in history...the resurrection of our Lord, Jesus Christ. We can have hope and joy and anticipate our lives everlasting in Heaven - He is Risen!
How great Thou art, How great Thou art!
.
Easter is truly a time for celebration.

We were blessed with a wonderful message about The Kingdom of God this Sunday by Pastor Eugene Brandt at Fellowship Bible Church. We hope and pray that the Resurrection is personal for you.

Pretty in Pink

Maegli, our girlie, is almost 10 weeks old...and about 101/2 pounds - she is growing so fast! Maegli is sleeping 8 hours straight at night (woohoo!), has a very serious face (very expressive eyebrows), and loves being on her belly. She also enjoys the constant attention and affection from her 3 big brothers.

Land Between the Lakes

We just returned from our first camping trip of the year (Burke and Maegli's first camping trip)...Land Between the Lakes. The inland peninsula in Tennessee and Kentucky is a National Recreation Area with over 170,000 acres and 300 miles of undeveloped shoreline. We stayed in a camping shelter Thursday through Saturday on the Tennessee side (we'll attempt tent camping with four children on a warmer weekend). We were pleased to be able to hike 2-1/2 miles with everyone - Amy carried Burke, Hendrick hoofed-it, and Mike carried Davis AND Maegli.

It was a gorgeous weekend and we enjoyed wonderful time as a family.

Twins

We love our "twins". Davis and Burke are very cute together and just 9 months apart in age - we're sure they will be the best of friends. We are amazed at how many people have very genuinely asked if they are twins...people comment that they look alike (same eyes, smile, cheeks, face shape) in all but skin color. We always reply that "they're brothers and they're just really close in age."
Davis and Burke were meant to be brothers - God is awesome!

Our Lake

We love spending time outside...we are so blessed to have a lake in our backyard and thankful for the warmer weather. Today, Hendrick had fun fishing from the boat while Davis and Burke waved from shore and ate sand - yuck!

Sharp Dressed Man

Uncle Dann and Miss Julie are getting married May 17, 2008...
Can you tell who is going to be their ring bearer?
(Cousin Zoey is their flower girl!)

Queen Bee

Happy Birthday Grandma Vee, our Queen Bee!

We had a wonderful trip to Cincinnati for Amy’s Grandma’s 90th birthday weekend. It was great to be with family to celebrate one incredibly special and beautiful person - we love her dearly.
We were pleased to have pictures taken by Ken Wendling to mark the occasion - he did a fantastic job.

Let it Snow!

Finally, SNOW in Jackson! We were so fortunate to receive 3 inches of snow Friday night...this is the most snow we've had in Tennessee (since we moved from Minnesota 3 years ago). We took full advantage of it: snow angels, sled riding, snow ball fight, snowman, and (of course) snow ice cream -yummy!

4 Little Monkeys

We do like Monkeys at our house. In fact, Curious George on PBS Kids is one of our favorite shows. Mike likes that it "teaches valuable lessons in science, math and engineering" - really! Hendrick will playact each show - we often "play" George all day (with assigned characters). He likes being Mr. Quint and fishing off our dock (the dining room table).
.
Our smallest monkeys are growing so fast! Burke is singing and talking up a storm...he can actually say "Hello Pete" (from the Hello Purdue Pete book)! Maegli is growing like a weed- her eyes get bigger each day and her rolls more abundant!

Magpie

Hendrick has lovingly assigned nicknames to our entire family...

"Sweetbug" (Hendrick)
"Bity Boy" (Davis)
"Burkey Boy" (Burke)
"Magpie" (Maegli)
"Music Music" (Daddy)
"Nellie Box" (Mommy) - we still don't know where that came from!

Whee!

We are so ready for Spring! We loved having 70+ degree weather over the weekend and took full advantage of our neighborhood playground. Davis has turned into a little daredevil - he was the first one up and the first one down each slide. Surprisingly, Burke was unfazed by the big slides and happily slid on his belly. Hendrick was our Superhero: helping Burke down the slide, racing Davis, and "flying!"
