Recital 2020
As with everything this season, our beautiful dancers' Recital looked a bit different in 2020.
The studio was very creative, continuing weekly classes online during the Covid-19 social distancing and stay-at-home orders (for March, April, and May). For a few weeks in June, when Ohio began allowing businesses to reopen, the girls were able to return to the studio wearing masks, having temperature checks, using plenty of hand sanitizer, drive-through drop-off and pick-ups, and keeping to their individual taped squares on the dance floor.
At the end of June, wearing costumes, each class was able to record their Recital dance :)
We fixed hair and make-up, and dressed in costume, and then waited in the car in the studio lot for their recording slot.
This has been a different season, and a different recital experience.
Rather than performing for an audience on stage under the big lights, the girls performed their routines in front of 3 cameras in studio. The recorded performances will then be compiled to create a "Recital video."
I can't wait to see these routines!
This was Emmy's first dance recital!
. . . Addy's 2nd, Dabney's 3rd, Maclaren's 5th, and Maegli and Hiwot's 9th.
The show must go on :)
We did stop for ice cream after their recorded performances (enjoying it outside, of course :)
Maegli and Hiwot danced a lyrical routine to "Good Riddance" a Green Day cover.
Emory and Addison danced a mini-ballet routine to the Disney song "Every Girl can be a Princess."
Maclaren and Dabney danced a petite-ballet routine to an instrumental version of "Part of your World" from Little Mermaid.
The girls had only been dancing with this studio since January - it's hard to move studios mid-year, and especially hard when practices weren't able to happen in person due to a pandemic. I'm very impressed with the poise and grace and flexibility these girls all showcased this season.
We're proud of our dancers!
