Headlands Beach State Park

Our last free weekend of the summer . . . (next weekend starts our season of cross country meet competitions!) . . . we went to the beach!  

We spent time at Headlands Beach State Park and Headlands Dunes Nature Preserve, the longest natural beach in Ohio.  The sand and washed pebble beach is a mile long and a perfect spot for beach glass hunting. 

We are so fortunate to have Lake Erie beaches just an hour away. Geneva State Park and Headlands Beach State Park are two spots I'd definitely like to come back to next summer.  With our oldest starting college this week, I especially treasure this time with my kiddos at the beach: swimming, hunting for beach glass, playing in the sand, reading on the shore - so thankful!

Bubbles

 

Blowing bubbles in the yard helps summer FEEL like summer!  I love it!!!  Bubbles have been the lasted craze in our household (before that, it was sidewalk chalk on the driveway, and then it was recycling boxes with tape and scissors to make robot costumes).  

• *For an easy DIY bubble solution: 1 part dish soap, 4 parts water, 1 spoonful of sugar (for longer lasting bubbles!)
  

Swings, Geese, and Twists

Summer is passing too quickly - we're starting our back-to-school prep, but still trying to soak up these final days of break.  We've kept to our goal of visiting the pool at least once a week, and visiting a playground a least once a week.  It's been wonderful!  

This playground is along the running trails our cross country kids frequent - a great place for swings, playing in the stream, and walking the trail . . . and chasing after geese (!). 

Addy was super pleased with her new twists - She wanted twists "just like Hiwi!"  (She picked out the colors herself!)  Twists have been a nice protective hairstyle for Addy this summer, especially with all our pool swimming.  We enjoyed lots of old musical movies together during the week of twist installation.  Beautiful girl!
